The Deal Readiness Check

A written decision before you appoint the distributor.

One proposed distributor, one product family, one appointment decision. We examine the company's claims, the terms you are being asked to accept and the import requirements for your product, then give you a written decision. S$2,900 is fixed for the standard eligible scope below.

You receive
A written decision, an evidence register and a readout call

S$2,900 fixed for the standard eligible scope

Eligibility

What we can check, and what we turn down

We confirm in writing whether the check can be undertaken before you pay anything. These are the same criteria we use on the call.

This check is for

  • An exporter assessing one named distributor it intends to appoint, or has been asked to appoint exclusively.
  • A trade organisation bringing a member's proposed appointment for the same scoped assessment.
  • A product family of up to three related models, with documents the exporter can provide.

What we need from you

  • The distributor's legal name, address and the appointment being proposed.
  • Product documents for the models in scope, including the export HS code you use now.
  • The draft agreement or the distributor's enquiry, your target price and payment terms.
  • One contact who can answer questions within two working days.

When we decline

  • The distributor cannot be named, or the appointment is still a shortlist of candidates.
  • The product documents needed for classification are not available.
  • The market needs a local licence or review we cannot arrange for that scope.
  • The question is a credit check, an audit, or a legal opinion on the agreement.

If we decline, we say so on the call and put the reason in writing. Nothing is charged.

Not sure what to request from the distributor? The documents guide lists twelve, with what each one proves and what it does not.

What you receive

Six parts, each with its source

The written assessment is organised the same way for every assignment. The scope decides how far each part goes, not whether it exists.

Rules today

Import approvals, surveyor report, tax and standards for your tariff lines, each with its source and the date we read it.

Landed cost

Scenarios and assumptions agreed in scope, so the effect of one failed assumption is visible.

Importer

Registry, business number, licence type and references, and what each of them does and does not establish.

Proposed terms

Payment, exclusivity and import responsibilities as drafted, with the question each one creates.

Unknowns

What we could not confirm, who can close it and why it matters before appointment.

Findings

Priority issues, evidence coverage and next steps, explained in a readout call.

Deliverable extract

An extract from the report, not a mock-up

Three lines, exactly as they appear: a rule line with its source and date, one cost difference, and the priority finding with its decision.

Annex I, Section IX, serials 806 to 814 list the valve lines. Source: Permendag 22/2025 on industrial goods, read 30 October 2026.

Listed valve lines

Landed cost

USD 242,891 if the certificate is rejected

Against USD 231,470 if it is accepted: a difference of USD 11,421 on the same shipment.

Priority finding

HOLD: Import licence route. Do not sign the proposed agreement yet.

The available evidence is not sufficient to proceed on the proposed terms. The arrangement remains unresolved: confirm a lawful import route and review the appointment terms before signing. Next action: Verify the import route: obtain the distributor's written licence position, then put it to an Indonesian specialist.

Price, scope and exclusions

Scope first. A quote before work.

S$2,900 is fixed for the standard eligible scope. Other assignments are quoted separately, with the reason stated before work. What follows is what the fee covers, and what it does not.

The Deal Readiness Check

S$2,900

S$2,900 is the fixed price for this standard eligible scope: one proposed distributor, one product family of up to three related models, one appointment decision in one destination market, where we can confirm the sources and specialist review before accepting the assignment. It is not a universal price. Other assignments are quoted separately, with the reason stated in the proposal.

  • Dated findings and their evidence
  • Priority issues, missing information and next steps
  • Written assessment and a readout call

What the standard scope covers

One check, one decision

Delivery is 10 working days from complete documents, up to 15 working days for first checks, as confirmed in the proposal.

  • English report with Korean summary
  • Other assignments are quoted separately. The proposal gives the reason: additional models or distributors, another destination market, another language, limited source access, or specialist review that has to be arranged.
  • The sources, the named reviewer and the revision allowance are fixed in the proposal before payment.

Our correction promise. If a rule statement in the report was wrong on the date we checked it, and you tell us within 60 days of delivery, we correct the report and refund the fee.

If a person or organisation introduced you and receives a referral fee from us, we tell you in the proposal. We pay that fee ourselves; it does not change your price. We never take fees from the distributors we check.

The limits of the check

  • One distributor, one product family (up to three related models), one appointment.
  • Records we cannot obtain stay unknown. No record found does not establish that no issue exists.
  • It is not legal, tax or customs advice, not a customs ruling and not a credit rating.
  • We do not file customs documents, act as importer of record, finance stock or guarantee payment.
  • We do not source alternative distributors, promise meetings or promise orders.

Why the limits are written down

An assessment that does not state its limits is asking to be trusted rather than read. Every limit below changes what you should do with the report, so it belongs in the document, not in a footnote.

If a limit would prevent the check answering your question, the call is where we say so, before any proposal.

Not a credit rating

We do not score the company's finances or predict whether it will pay. We report what the records show, including a payment reference that worries us.

Not an audit

We examine the records available for the named company and product. We do not audit the distributor's accounts or visit its premises.

Not a legal opinion

Where a term or a route needs a lawyer, the report says so. We do not draft or negotiate the agreement.

Not a distributor search

We do not find replacements or introduce candidates. The check is on the appointment you are considering.

Documents and handling

  • Documents you send are used for the check you asked for and shared only with the people doing the work.
  • We may use AI tools to read regulations and records and to help assemble the report. People check every rule line and make the decision.
  • The AI tool list, processing locations and retention period are not yet published. Ask us for the current position before sending documents you consider sensitive.
  • We do not sell your documents or use your prices outside your assignment.

Why we say what is not yet fixed

We would rather report an open question than invent a retention period or a data location. If a point is not confirmed, the proposal or our reply says so.

The privacy note records the same position.

Timeline and responsibilities

Four stages. Fixed dates, named roles.

Each stage produces something you keep. You provide the documents in the proposal and answer questions within two working days. If we are more than 5 working days late against the date in your proposal, you may cancel for a full refund.

Tell us the deal and the date you must decide

Step 1Talk: a 30-minute call

We learn the product, the countries involved, the proposed distributor and what is at stake, and we tell you if the check is not the right tool.

  • No cost and no obligation
  • We say when it is not for you
  • Your documents stay confidential
Ask for a 30-minute call

You receive

A short written note of the deal, the decision date and whether we can help.

A proposal with scope, date and price

Step 2Initial scope: after the call

Before you accept, the proposal states the available sources, selected checks, any specialist review, report language, delivery date and price.

  • One product family, up to 3 related models
  • One proposed distributor, one destination
  • Referral fees, if any, stated in writing
See the price

You receive

A two-page proposal: scope, available sources, named reviewer, price and delivery date.

We check the rules, the cost, the importer and the proposed terms

Step 3Check: dates agreed in the proposal

Every rule line is traced to the official text with its date. If we are more than 5 working days late, you may cancel for a full refund.

  • Each rule line dated and sourced
  • Rules reviewed by the reviewer named in your proposal
  • Selected terms set out, not a legal contract review
What the report contains

You receive

The evidence register: one line per requirement, with source, provision and the date read.

Findings, evidence and next steps

Step 4Result call: 45 minutes

We explain the priority issues, how far the evidence goes and the questions to resolve before appointment.

  • Findings dated to the evidence we read
  • Not permission to import
  • Not a promise of sales
See a check in action

You receive

The decision brief, then a 45-minute readout call on the finding and the next actions.

Evidence and specialist review

Who checks, who reviews, who signs

Three roles, named before the work starts. Where a role cannot be filled for your market, we say so and decline the scope.

The analyst

One person works your file from the first call. Every rule line is checked against the official text and carries the date it was read. Where a figure is an estimate, the report says so.

The specialist reviewer

Where the scope requires local regulatory expertise, the proposal names the reviewer, their qualifications or registration and the exact questions they will review. That is confirmed before any payment is taken. If the review cannot be arranged, we do not accept that scope.

The signer

Indhran Seghar, director of AIR APAC Pte. Ltd., signs the recommendation, and the report carries his name. It shows what each person did: what the analyst checked, what the reviewer confirmed, what the director signed.

We are new. The worked example demonstrates the method; it is not a completed client engagement. We are building our record of customer work, and every accepted assignment has an agreed scope, evidence requirements and accountable reviewers.

Where specialist review stands

Peter Ang is the Indonesian reviewer for Exeter Link. Where a check needs Indonesian regulatory review, the proposal states his registration, the exact questions he will answer and the review date before any payment is taken. The illustrative example on this site has not been reviewed by him. If that review cannot be arranged for your market, we decline the scope rather than proceed without it.

How a rule line is traced to its source: who checks what, and why it is dated.

Example proposal

What a scoped proposal looks like

A concise example, not a contract. The signed proposal and the engagement terms govern an assignment.

Included in the standard scope

  • One named distributor and one product family, up to three related models, in one destination market.
  • Dated rule lines for the products in scope, with the source and the date read.
  • Landed-cost scenarios on the assumptions agreed in the proposal.
  • The company record, the proposed terms and the questions they create.
  • A written assessment, an evidence register and a 45-minute readout call.

Not included

  • Legal, tax or customs advice, a customs ruling, a credit rating or an audit.
  • A distributor search, meetings, orders or a guarantee of payment.
  • Additional models, distributors or markets outside the accepted proposal.
  • Work that needs a specialist review we cannot arrange for that market.

Responsibilities

  • You provide the documents listed in the proposal and answer questions within two working days.
  • We confirm the sources, the reviewer's identity and credentials, and the exact review scope before payment.
  • A director signs the recommendation; the report names who checked, reviewed and signed.
  • Each side tells the other promptly if the delivery date is at risk.

Delivery and acceptance

10 working days from complete documents, up to 15 working days for first checks, as stated in the proposal. If we are more than 5 working days late, you may cancel for a full refund.

The proposal is accepted in writing. Payment is due before work starts. Where review is required, no payment is taken before the reviewer's identity, qualifications and scope are confirmed.

The standard price applies only to this eligible scope. Additional models, another distributor or another market are quoted separately, with the reason stated.

Questions

Questions, answered plainly

If a question is not here, ask it. We answer on the call and put the scope in the proposal in writing.

What does the Deal Readiness Check cost?
S$2,900 is the fixed price for the standard eligible scope: one named distributor, one product family of up to three related models, one destination market and one appointment decision. Anything outside that scope is quoted separately, with the reason stated in the proposal before work. Nothing is charged until the scope, the sources and any specialist review are confirmed in writing.
What could go wrong when appointing an overseas distributor?
Four failures come up most often: a distributor that cannot lawfully import the product for resale; a first shipment held for a missing certificate, surveyor report or registration; exclusivity granted before the import route is confirmed; and a landed cost built on an assumption that turns out to be wrong. Each is cheaper to find before appointment than after.
How is this different from a trade agency or a customs broker?
A trade agency usually works the market side and may bring buyers to you. A customs broker files entries and clears shipments for the importer. Neither is hired to tell you whether this distributor can do what the appointment requires. We are hired by the exporter and paid only by the exporter, take no fee from any distributor we check, and do not file customs documents or act as importer of record.
When should an exporter commission this check?
Before an exclusivity request is signed, before a first shipment is scheduled against a date, or before an existing distributor is replaced. It works best when a decision has a date attached and the distributor is named. If the distributor is still a shortlist of candidates, the check is premature.
When is this service unsuitable?
When the distributor cannot be named, the product documents needed for classification are missing, the question is a credit check, an audit or a legal opinion, or the destination market needs a local licence or specialist review we cannot arrange. We say so on the call, before any proposal or payment.
Can you check my proposed distributor and product?
One named distributor, one product family (up to three related models) and one proposed appointment, in any market where we can confirm the sources and the specialist review. Tell us the countries, the product and the date you must decide; we confirm in writing whether the check can be undertaken before you pay anything.
What information do you need from me?
The distributor's legal name and the appointment being proposed, product documents for the models in scope, the draft agreement or the distributor's enquiry, your target price and payment terms, and one contact who can answer questions within two working days.
Who checks the findings?
An analyst checks every rule line against the official text and records the date. Where specialist review is required, the proposal names the reviewer, qualifications and exact scope before payment. A director signs the recommendation and the name is on the report.
What happens if something cannot be verified?
It stays unknown, and the report says so. Each open item names who can close it and why it matters. No record found does not establish that no issue exists, and we do not convert an unanswered question into a confident conclusion.
Is this a legal opinion or a customs clearance service?
No. The check is a written assessment to support your business decision, not legal, tax or customs advice and not a customs ruling. Where a point needs a formal legal opinion, the report says so. We do not file customs documents or act as importer of record.
How do you use AI, and is our data safe?
We may use AI tools to read regulations and company records and help assemble the report. People check every rule line and make the decision. The tool list, processing locations and retention arrangements are not yet published; ask us before sending confidential documents. Documents are shared only with the people doing the work.
What are your cancellation and refund terms?
If we are more than 5 working days late against the delivery date in your proposal, you may cancel for a full refund. Separately, if a rule statement was wrong on the date we checked it and you tell us within 60 days of delivery, we correct the report and refund the fee.
How many revisions are included?
The proposal states the revision allowance before you accept. Work outside the agreed scope, including additional models or a second distributor, is quoted separately.

Next step
